Dr. Mainemelis is associate professor at ALBA and he also teaches, as visiting professor, at the University of Porto and London Business School. From 2001 to 2009 he was assistant professor at London Business School. He has also taught at the University of San Francisco, Case Western Reserve University and the Sogang University in Seoul.
His research focuses on creativity, learning and leadership. Among other issues, he has examined the relationships between creativity and time; creativity and playfulness; creativity and deviance; personal creativity and career experimentation; learning styles and adaptive flexibility; and the role of learning styles in management education. His research has been published in leading academic journals, including the Academy of Management Review, Research in Organizational Behavior, Creativity Research Journal, Management Learning, the Journal of Management Inquiry and the Journal of Organizational Change Management. His article "Stealing Fire: Creative Deviance in the Evolution of New Ideas" won the Academy of Management Review 2010 Best Paper Award. His studies have also been profiled in the popular press including The Sunday Times, The Financial Times, Kathimerini, Rotman Magazine, and Business Strategy Review.
He has delivered several executive workshops in many different countries including: the United States, United Kingdom, South Africa, South Korea, Dubai, Greece, Portugal, Netherlands, Turkey and Serbia. He has worked with leading organisations including Barclay’s, BT, Carrefour, Elval, Ericsson, Eurobank, Henkel, Ladakis SA, Lloyd’s, NovoNordisk, Piraeus Bank, Philip Morris, Public Power Corporation, Rabobank, Sanofi-Aventis, Sonaecom, Tasty Foods and Vodafone. In addition, he has addressed keynote speeches to diverse audiences such as the Institute for Public Policy Research, the National Maritime Museum & Royal Observatory at Greenwich, the Cleveland Institute of Art and the TEDx Academy.
Dr. Mainemelis is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Academy of Management, the Creative Education Foundation and the European Group for Organizational Studies. He is a member of the editorial board of Academy of Management Review and recipient of Academy Management Review’s Best Paper Award (2010) and Outstanding Reviewer Award (2009).
