Evangelia Baralou holds a B.Sc. Hons. in Computer Science (Athens University of Economic and Business) and a M.Sc. with distinction in Business Information Technology Systems (Strathclyde University). The two degrees have provided her with sufficient technical and business knowledge, which was embedded in her PhD “Organizational Knowledge Creation in Virtual Teams” (Strathclyde University).

Evangelia has worked as a research assistant in an EU-funded research project “Advancing Women Returners in ITEC” in Bath University during 2005. Participation in this project gave her experience in European projects and the ability to move away from her doctoral research to another research area that is relevant to her previous studies.

Evangelia has worked as a research assistant with Johnson, G., Scholes, K. and Whittington, R. for the preparation of the new edition of the best selling international book in corporate strategy “Corporate Strategy”. She has contributed to a specific chapter of the book related to the role of ICTs in formulating organizational strategy.  

She has received internal funding from the University of Stirling as a new researcher and conducted independent comparative research in the area of knowledge management in the S/W industry of Greece and Scotland. 

Evangelia has presented her research in all the major conferences in management studies (AOM, BAM, EGOS, OKLC). She has published one paper in a journal (The International Journal of Learning) and three book chapters with academics in various parts of the world. Her publications so far indicate her ability to collaborate as an independent researcher with other academics and publish in various areas of management studies.

Evangelia has teaching and research interests in the areas of knowledge management, organizational learning, new organizational structures, emotions and social identity. She has taught at Strathclyde University, University of Glasgow, Stirling University and ALBA Graduate Business School. Her doctoral research was specifically focused on the creation of organizational knowledge in teams of geographically dispersed individuals. For her doctoral thesis she won the 2002 Society for the Advancement of Management Studies Ph.D. scholarship. She has acted as a referee for journals and conferences such as the Organization Studies, Organization and Human Relations and the Academy of Management conference.
