Kyriakos Vlahos

Before joining Alba Dr Vlahos was an Assistant Professor at London Business School (1991 - 2001) and an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs (2001 -2003). He has taught at the MBA programmes of the London Business School, the Copenhagen Business School, the Athens University of Economics and Business and the China-Europe International Business School. His early research was relying on the use of large-scale optimization models, but he is now investigating the use of more flexible decision support frameworks that allow the integration of ''hard'' and ''soft'' approaches. The main application areas for his work have been the study of competitive energy and telecommunications markets. He has published articles in the European Journal of Operational Research, the Journal of the Operational Research Society, Decision Support Methods, Energy Economics, Technological Forecasting and Social Change and Fiscal Studies. He has edited a book on Decision Science and special academic journal issues, and has organized two international conferences. Dr Vlahos has served for ten years as a Member of the Board of the Greek Regulatory Authority for Energy, as an advisor to public organizations such as the Ministry of Development of Greece and the National Telecommunications and Post Commission and as a consultant to Greek and international companies such as the Public Power Corporation (ΔΕΗ), Southern Electric, and National Power. He also participated in European research projects and joint collaborations with industry (Ericsson, BT).

AWARDS

Goodeve Medal of the Operational Research Society for the best paper published in the Journal of the Operational Research Society in 1993.
