PLATON+ Training Workshop
“Effective Collaboration in Multidisciplinary Research: A Learning Experience”
|
Q-PLAN North Greece (PLATON+ project coordinator) kindly invites you to participate in the forthcoming training workshop “Effective Collaboration in Multidisciplinary Research: A Learning Experience” which will take place on December 4th at ACT in Thessaloniki. The workshop is organised in the framework of PLATON+ project and is designed to address the complex and demanding context in cross-disciplinary research activities, by exposing participants to the collaboration challenges of such activities.
The participants will be engaged in a simulation game for a “learning by doing” experience, which will be facilitated by Dr. Nikolaos Mylonopoulos, Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Information Systems at ALBA. The game was initially presented last June in the first training event that was organized by ALBA Graduate Business School within the Platon+ context. During the game, the participants grouped in teams will be exposed to various socio-economic topics and will be confronted with the complex collaboration dynamics and breakdowns that occur in large multidisciplinary project consortia. Based on hypothetical scenario of a research proposal to be submitted, they will have to discuss and prioritise the topics that will be suggested for extra funding. The online tool that supports the simulation game has been developed by the Centre for Advanced Learning Technologies of the Institut Européen d’Administration des Affaires (CALT-INSEAD, France, www.calt.insead.edu), while the training scenario was developed by ALBA Graduate Business School.
The workshop will act as the first step towards developing collaboration synergies for heterogeneous research activities, such as those where Socio-Economic Sciences and Humanities research is combined with technological/engineering research.
Who should attend?
- researchers from all fields interested in EU funded research activities;
- policy analysts, including public research agencies acting as advisors for policy formulation; and
- representatives of Non-Governmental Organisations, business associations and consultancies that collaborate with researchers and ‘exploit’ their research findings.
Registration procedure
- There is no cost for participation. However, due to the nature of the simulation game, the seats are limited and will be handled on a first come-first served basis.
- Complete the registration form and send it by e-mail to: delioglanis@qplan.gr or by fax to: 2310-422308.
