Dear Prospective MBA in Shipping Candidate
Shipping is a large and complex
industry which includes a wide diversity of companies
and organizations such as shipping companies, supply
chain providers, support service providers, maritime
organizations, maritime associations and
importers/exporters. Due to intensive competition,
globalization of the world economy, speed of change,
technological developments, and increased international
trade, a holistic approach for executive managerial
skills is ever-needed.
Since the shipping
world is constantly changing and developing, it needs
well-trained managers. To address this need, ALBA has
designed the MBA in Shipping, with a program approach "by the industry for the industry". The Program, with 17
resident academic staff members, a large number of
visiting professors, industry partners, and an extensive
corporate network, aims to create managers, "agents of
change", in one of the most important sectors of the
Greek economy, with strong international presence and
recognition.
The ALBA MBA in Shipping has been designed to offer a
unique educational experience; one that combines and
balances the need for rigor and academic thinking with
the practical aspects of the dynamic and competitive "real world" of shipping. The Program will provide to
students a combination of conceptual, analytical and
technologically advanced training in shipping with a
sound understanding of the application of managerial
theories and techniques in shipping operations.
We select our students on the basis of genuine interest and work experience in
shipping, leadership potential and a strong motivation
to succeed in this challenging environment. Furthermore,
our extensive corporate network enables our students to
seek employment opportunities in the most prestigious
organizations in Greece.
Our resident and visiting faculty consists of renowned
academics holding Ph.D.s and having taught at the best
US and European Business Schools. Leading local and
international industry professionals, invited as guest
speakers throughout the Program, bring in class
state-of-the-art professional experience, linking
academic knowledge with the modern shipping practice.
The Academic Advisory Committee, which consists of some
of the most distinguished academics worldwide - coming
from Business Schools such as MIT, University of Michigan,

among others - ensures that the Program meets the
highest possible quality standards and the latest
developments in the shipping industry.
The Business Advisory Committee, which consists of a
