One of the great challenges in legal education today is to bridge the gap between the traditional legal profession and modern business practice, and provide the necessary tools so as to help legal professionals make even more sophisticated decisions. The task is particularly challenging in the areas of corporate law, securities law, banking, insurance, mergers and acquisitions and other forms of corporate restructuring.

The purpose of the Program is to prepare law professionals for careers as corporate legal advisors, either as internal full time counselors of manufacturing, merchandising and service companies and/or as independent professionals.

The Program is tailored to the needs of those legal professionals who wish to advance their career development in the sophisticated and dynamically changing business world. The practical and career-oriented curriculum builds a strong foundation in the principles and practice of business issues, a substantial base of new concepts and knowledge, focusing on an extensive analysis of the business environment, as well as the interaction of accounting, finance, marketing, legal, tax, and organizational issues with business decisions. It also enhances their analytical and synthetic skills, and provides fresh knowledge and expertise.

In order to complete the Program the participants must fulfill the requirements of 11 courses either in one year (full-time) or in two years (part-time). Each academic year lasts from January to December, while the months of July and August are reserved for vacation. A short break is also scheduled during Christmas & Easter holidays. Classes meet evenings, twice a week 17:00 to 21:00.

Since January 2005 courses are held in the centre of Athens in the Educational Centre of the National Bank of Greece facilities (30, Omirou Str.).

Courses are selected to provide both the analytical tools required for complex problem-solving in functional areas such as finance, marketing, organizational behavior, etc., and the skills that are indispensable for successful professional competency (leadership, communication, negotiation, team-work, computer skills). In terms of pedagogical approach, this goal is achieved not only through formal instruction (lecture, cases, etc.) but also in a hands-on manner, through intensive collaboration in teams. The official language of the Program is English. A limited number of courses with specific characteristics is taught in Greek.

To ensure comprehensive coverage, the preparatory period for the Program starts at the beginning of November. Participants take this opportunity to acquaint themselves with basic concepts in Business Mathematics, Legal Writing and Computing. There is no fee required to attend these courses and they offer no academic credit.

Periods 1, 2, 3 and 4 are devoted to core courses, while Period 5 includes the electives. An impressive variety of elective courses offer participants the opportunity to further develop and specialize into subjects of particular interest to them. Naturally, it is left to participants to make their own choices.
