Researchers mainly interested in the Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities field are most welcome to visit the Platon+ website at: www.platonplus.net. Platon+ offers the opportunity to any organization/company to:

  • Promote their profile through the project’s database in which they can describe not only its competences and expertise but also its needs and areas of interest in Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities (SSH) so as to be identified and invited to participate in research consortia
  • Use the partner search database to find suitable partners, search for and promote their research ideas and results, promote their own Socio economic expertise and to search for research publications from different SSH areas

During the training workshop titled Effective Collaboration in Multidisciplinary Research: A Learning Experience” that was successfully organized by ALBA Graduate Business School on June 15 2009, the participants had the opportunity to fill in their collaboration profile and register at the Platon+ database. The training workshop was organized within the framework of Platon+ project funded under the Socio-economic Sciences and Humanities theme. Ms. Louisa Anastopoulou - DG Research, Directorate L “Science, Economy and Society” from the EC presented the EC policy perspective on the Socio-economic and Humanities area and invited the researchers to promote their research through Platon+.

Professors from both the National Technical University of Athens and the Athens University of Economics and Business presented their experiences on past multi-disciplinary Research Projects in order to demonstrate the importance of collaboration in a multidisciplinary context (problems encountered during the life cycle of the project, barriers to communication, coordination and solutions given).

Moreover, the participants of this workshop (mainly coming from Universities and the research community) had  the opportunity to take part at a simulation educational game (developed at CALT, INSEAD) that was specially designed for researchers who are interested in submitting proposals for Socio-economic research EC funding calls. The game was conducted in small groups with participants of different research disciplines background in order to achieve an innovative learning experience. The simulation game addressed the complex and demanding collaboration context in cross-disciplinary research and helped the participants to engage with the respective collaboration challenges.

Dr. Nikolaos Mylonopoulos, Associate Dean of Technology and Innovation at ALBA Graduate Business School analyzed techniques on how to successfully manage research projects. In addition, the participants had the opportunity to experience a training seminar on effective negotiation skills in collaborative context, conducted by Dr. Aspa Tsaoussi, Visiting Professor at ALBA Graduate Business School.
