Monday, 20/05/2002

ALBA's full time MBA students recently completed an exciting internal Business Plan Competition that lead to the selection of the ‘MILKLAND’ team. This team will represent ALBA in the 2002 European Business Plan of the Year Competition, to be held at INSEAD, France, on June 10-11, 2002. The team, consisting of Gela Adeishvili, Christos Alevizos, Efterpi Effraimidi, Nikoloz Grdzelidze, and Kosmas Nikolaidis proposes the establishment of a new venture in Georgia for the production of fresh pasteurized milk. ALBA faculty and staff wish to congratulate all participating teams, for their hard work, enthusiasm and commitment.

The 'MILKLAND' plan was selected among thirteen teams, with members from both the ALBA MBA and Professional-MBA Programs. All teams presented their business plans to a panel, consisting of: Nikos Ebeoglou (President, ALBA), Dr. Vasilis Theoharakis (Assistant Professor of Marketing, ALBA), Serafim Voliotis (General Manager, AKIS S.A. - ALBA Alumnus), Thomas Skaperdas (iVen), Paul Panayotacos (NBG Venture Capital), Sergio Sarafopoulos (Marketing Manager, Bentonite Division, SILVER & BARYTE ORES MINING Co S.A. - ALBA Alumnus), and Yannis Angelis (Business Development Manager, PETROS PETROPOULOS S.A. - ALBA Alumnus). The intensive preparation of the teams and the quality of their ideas made the selection of the winning team a hard task for panel members.

The 2002 European Business Plan Competition will celebrate its 10th anniversary, with the participation of 13 top European Business Schools. ALBA is an active participant in this competition with Professor Vassilis Theoharakis being a member of its steering committee. In last year's Competition, the 'Easy Islands' team from ALBA was among the finalists, making ALBA the first institution in the history of the competition to reach such a high position in its first participation.
