Dr. Babis Mainemelis has won the Academy of Management Review (AMR) 2010 Best Paper Award

Dr. Babis Mainemelis, Associate Professor of Organizational Behavior, has won the Academy of Management Review (AMR) 2010 Best Paper Award. The award is granted each year to the best paper published in AMR the year before and is based on four evaluation criteria:

 -         Core ideas are original, important, and provocative

-          Discussion of literature is complete and accurate

-          Presentation is concise and logical

-          Contribution is clear and important

This year’s winner article, selected by a committee of esteemed Professors, is entitled “Stealing Fire: Creative Deviance in the Evolution of New Ideas” and was published in AMR in October 2010. Professor Mainemelis joins the circle of distinguished scholars who have won the AMR Best Paper Award since its inception in 1987 and is the first winner coming from a Greek business school. He will receive the award on August 14^th at the annual meeting of the Academy of Management in San Antonio, Texas.

AMR is among the most prestigious academic journals in the social sciences. It is ranked by the Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) as the number one journal in both the Management and Business categories. In the Association of Business Schools (ABS) quality ratings of 823 academic journals, AMR is one of 22 classified at the top (“World Elite”) tier. Dr. Mainemelis research has appeared twice before in AMR (in 2001 and 2002).  He is also the recipient of AMR’s Outstanding Reviewer Award (in 2009), and since 2009 a member of its Editorial Board.
