During the weekend of November 28th and 29th, Dr. George Allayannis will be teaching at the ALBA Executive MBA Program the course “International Finance”.

Dr. Allayannis is a Professor of Business Administration and the Associate Dean for Global Executive MBA at the Darden School of Business of the University of Virginia. He is an expert in Corporate Finance, Risk Management and Financial Institutions. His primary research focus is on corporate risk management, corporate financial policies and international finance. Specifically, his work examines the impact of financial and operational risk management on firm valuation and risk, the valuation implications of cash flow volatility and the determinants and evolution of a firm's exchange-rate risk. His recent work explores capital structure and liquidity as a way to manage risk and improve value, corporate governance and earnings management. His research has been published in leading finance journals, such as the Journal of Finance , the Journal of Financial Economics and the Review of Financial Studies.

The International Finance course studies the institutional and economic forces affecting the international financial markets and the firm: cross-border flows, inflation, interest rates, exchange rate regimes and other important factors in exchange rate determination and the financial instruments available in international markets (forwards, options, futures and swaps). The course applies these tools to study the practical problems of measuring and managing currency and interest rate risk faced by multinationals when investing or raising capital abroad, the estimation of the cost of capital for foreign investments, the valuation of cross-border acquisitions, and the examination of global financial institutions.
