ALBA supports Get Online Week 2014

The Hellenic Professionals Informatics Society (HePIS) in partnership with Microsoft Hellas are announcing the launch of the Get online Week campaign in Greece.

Get Online Week is an annual campaign that aims to encourage European citizens to enhance their digital skills in order to be more competitive in the labor market. This year’s campaign support the goals of the Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs, an initiative of the European Commission through which it encourages SME’s, governments, educational institutions and organizations to work together with a view to bridging the projected shortage of up to 500,000 ICT professionals until 2015.

As part of the Get online Week campaign in Greece, an event will be organized for pupils and students who wish to learn more about the prospects and the opportunities of the ICT sector as a potential career path. The event will take place at DEREE - The American College of Greece premises, on April 9, 2014. Among the sponsors of the events are PEOPLECERT, the American College of Greece, ALBA Graduate Business School at the American College of Greece, Manpower Group, the Athens Information Technology (AIT) and the European Centre for Women and Technology.

Furthermore, during the Get Online Week campaign in Greece, HePIS will distribute 500 vouchers to students and pupils who wish to participate in the Greek part of the Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship. The World Championship is a global competition organized in 90 countries through which the students are assessed based on their skills in Microsoft Office.

The Get Online Week campaign is organized every year by the European organization Telecentre Europe. This year the event will be organized in more than 20 European countries. The national partner of the Get Online Week campaign in Greece is the Hellenic Professionals Informatics Society (HePIS) while this campaign is an integral part of the activities of the Getbusy.gr initiative as part of the Microsoft YouthSpark Citizenship program.
