Program Identity and Scope
Human Resource (HR) management is currently one of the fastest-growing management fields. Organizations are increasingly recognizing the strategic role of human capital for achieving significant business results, sustainable growth and innovation
The ALBA MSc in Strategic HRM is a program aiming at:
- shaping a new generation of HR professionals that will act as strategic partners and effectively align people strategies with business strategies, and
- helping other professionals with managerial responsibilities become able to strategically manage their organizations' human capital, act as coaches and unleash their people's talents and full potential.
The program provides participants with a solid knowledge of human resource issues and the practical skills to meet the challenges of people management within an international context.
The Learning Objectives of the Program are:
- To help students develop a critical understanding of both the theory and practice of Human Resource Management.
- To offer them firm grasp of key HR activities, such as recruitment and selection, manpower planning, performance appraisal, training and development, motivation and engagement, compensation and benefits, talent management and succession planning.
- To provide students with the practical tools for strategically leveraging the human capital in their organizations.
- To help students speak the language of business, act as strategic partners and be able to build and deploy critical people competencies that are needed to execute business strategies.
- To enable them to design Human Resource strategies aligned with the business strategy and contribute to high levels of employee retention, engagement and performance.
- To help them understand the complexities of managing human resources in an international context.
More specifically, our vision for our graduates is that of people who:
- will have strategic thinking and understand how to incorporate new patterns of human resource strategy in place of more traditional models of personnel management;
- will be strategic business partners and create sustainable competitive advantage for their firms by learning how to design and implement human resource processes integrated into the organizations' overall strategy;
- will speak the language of the business and will be able to build and deploy critical people competencies that are needed to execute business strategies;
- will have confidence in dealing with complexity and change.
