Bridging the gap between the traditional legal profession and modern business practice

 

The objective of this program is to bridge the gap between the traditional legal profession and modern business practice. This stems from the fact that legal professionals must possess the necessary tools for business decision-making in the areas of corporate governance, securities law, antitrust law, investment banking, mergers and acquisitions, complex financial contracts, as well as other forms of corporate restructuring.  That is, the main purpose of the program is to enable law practitioners to deal more successfully with business issues, connected to their legal activities; in other words: to offer them a business and managerial insight.

Designed for Law Professionals who Need a Business Knowledge Background
The program is tailored to the needs of legal professionals who deal with issues arising in the modern corporate world.  It appeals to law firm associates, corporate lawyers, trainee lawyers and judges. This is a cross-functional program which prepares participants for careers as corporate legal advisors, either as internal corporate counsel or as independent professionals. The program aims to develop further professional skills to lawyers that:

  • act as consultants to business executives
  • manage and lead their own law firm
  • offer legal advice on certain issues interlinked with business or finance

The MSc in Business for Lawyers Graduates have developed strong communication and negotiating skills, strategic outlook, and a solid understanding of business language and environment.  They are able to:

  • Prepare, negotiate and draft more efficient and effective contracts
  • Have a keener sense of business global environment
  • Develop managerial aspects of legal practice
